On August 25, 2017, Deputy Secretary of Chengdu Municipal Party Committee and Mayor of Chengdu Luo Qiang met with Director of International Business of Tennis Australia Ben Aslek in Chengdu.
Luo Qiang began by welcoming Ben Aslek for another visit to Chengdu. Luo Qiang indicated that Tennis Australia is the founding and sponsoring organization of the Australian Open, and has accumulated many successful experiences and advanced methodologies in sports exchanges and cooperation, thus he hopes that Chengdu and Tennis Australia can form rapport and partnership in areas such as Tennis Australia Campus Tennis project expansions, sharing of experiences in hosting competitions, international tennis competition cooperation, and construction and maintenance of international sports centers. Luo Qiang also stated the hope that the two sides can hold active dialogues in exploring the possibility of opening the first overseas "Tennis Australia Professional Training Camp" in Chengdu.
Ben Aslek said that the cooperation partnership between Chengdu and Tennis Australia is paramount, and expressed the willingness to further harness collaborative potentials and maximize cooperation opportunities between the two parties based upon the current solid foundation, so as to capitalize on Tennis Australia's extensive operation and management experiences and the Australian Open's global clout in contributing to the growth of Chengdu's sports industry.
Deputy Mayor of Chengdu Zhang Zhenghong, Assistant to the Mayor of Chengdu Han Chunlin, Deputy Director of the Chengdu Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office Zhong Laizhao and relevant persons in charge at the Chengdu Bureau of Education and Bureau of Sports were also present at the meeting.
