The Chengdu International Food & Tourism Festival has been held by Chengdu, the first UNESCO City of Gastronomy in Asia, for 14 consecutive years.
During every National Day holiday, the city invites guests from all over the world to the central city in western China for the food, tourism and culture carnival.
The 14th Chengdu International Food & Tourism Festival and the 7th Slow Food International Congress will take place in the provincial capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province from September 29 to October 8.
On September 11, a press conference for the above-mentioned events was convened at the Embassy of Italy in China. Carlo Petrini, the Italian founder and President of the Slow Food movement, delivered a video message to the conference.
The major venue for the slow food congress will be set at the Shangri-La Hotel Chengdu, and those for the food and tourism festival in Dayi County's Anren Ancient Town and Chenghua District's Yongli Xingduchengdu commercial complex. Many busy business centers in the city will become areas for culinary and cultural experiences.
Themed "Tianfu Chengdu, City of Slow Food," the food and tourism festival will highlight distinct local food and Tianfu culture of the city.
The 10-day event will present colorful programs and activities which are aimed to promote domestic and international exchange in food and culture.
