Phoenix was first established in 1867, when Jack Swelling traveled here and noticed that the lands here were fertile, soft and warm in winter, but lack of water. Then he started an irrigation company in 1868, and a lot of aqueducts were developed as a result, so this place attracted a lot of explorers. Because of the population there was booming in 1870, people advised building a permanent city. A common citizen suggested naming the city as Phoenix according to a legend of a longevity bird, hence the name Phoenix. On the February 25th, 1881, this city was took its shape and called Phoenix officially.
